Marine Elevators and Lifts

Reliability and safety are the hallmark of Jered elevators.

Jered provides electric and hydraulic aircraft, weapons, cargo, and personnel elevators for U.S. Navy and global navy vessels. We offer the most advanced, state-of-the-art marine elevator systems in the world, and our elevator and lift designs have shown high levels of safety, reliability, efficiency, and ease of maintenance.

Aircraft Elevators

Transferring aircraft, ammunition and vehicles between hangar decks and flight decks is one of the most complex and precision-demanding operations in modern naval vessels. Jered has supplied over 90 aircraft elevators to date for U.S. aircraft carriers, amphibious ships and allied navies.

Most recently, we developed all-electric aircraft elevators for the U.S. Navy CVN-79 and LHA-8, lowering installation and projected through-life support costs.

Features and Benefits

  • Wire rope suspended platform with two and four-point suspension.
  • 20-ton to 100-ton lift capacity with full speed control.
  • Up to 250-ton load rating including platform.
  • Motion control system for smooth, stepless acceleration and deceleration.
  • Inherently fail safe without reliance on brakes or sensors.
  • Easy control system integration with related equipment.
  • Elimination of bending load on ship’s structure.
  • No platform movement from sea motion while loading or unloading aircraft.
  • Optional fluid accumulators minimize power demands on ship’s electrical system while providing minimum cycle time.

Marine Cargo and Weapons Elevators

Cargo and weapons elevators ensure safe and reliable transportation of cargo and munitions in pallet loads, containers, and stowage cradles. Additionally, they facilitate the movement of electric forklift trucks and batteries between cargo holds and the deck levels served by the elevator.

Jered has provided more than 150 weapons handling and stowage systems for 11 Navies and 13 different ship classes. Hoist weights range from 4,800 to 43,000 lbs (including platform). Jered was the first to incorporate a shock-qualified PLC elevator control system on a Navy Standard Elevator design.

Features and Benefits

  • Reduces shipyard installation labor, time, interference with other activities.
  • Solves troublesome alignment challenges and resulting operational problems.
  • Provides modular shipping configuration.
  • Eliminates need for a loose assortment of parts.
  • Utilizes PAR designed electric door actuators in lieu of hydraulic.
  • Installs early in process to enable further shipbuilding efficiencies.

Personnel Elevators and Lifts

Crew and personnel elevators on ships play a crucial role in facilitating the fast, easy, and safe movement of personnel between decks. Like all marine elevators, personnel elevators must be reliable, safe, and meet the needs of special environment requirements.

We specialize in design customization of personnel elevator in order to best meet the special needs of our customers. We offer personnel options with either rack-and-pinion and cable traction drive as well as electric or hydraulic power, and all of our elevators are compliant with ASME A17.1 (2004 safety code for elevators).
